Download and install
About five minutes. You need Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit).
Download the installer
Click Download for Windows. A file called Nixa_Setup.exe is saved in your Downloads folder.
If Windows shows a blue box
The installer is new and not signed yet, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". This is normal for new programs.
Click More info, then Run anyway.
Install
Click Next, then Install. When it is done, the Nixa icon is on your desktop.
First start
A short 3-step welcome shows you the Arabic features. Then log in with your usual Second Life account.
Type Arabic
Nothing to set up. Arabic is on from the start.
Switch the keyboard language
Press Alt + Shift (or Win + Space) to switch Windows to Arabic.
Type in the chat bar
Letters join as you type and the line starts on the right. The cursor, selection and arrow keys all behave.
The gold ع button
On the bottom toolbar. It turns Arabic on or off. Off = you see text exactly as other viewers show it. Shortcut: Ctrl+Alt+A.
Friends on other viewers
Viewers without Arabic support show it broken. The ع⇄ button fixes that.
Turn on ع⇄ next to the chat box
In the chat where your friend is. The button turns gold, and your Arabic is sent pre-joined, like Arabic chat HUDs do.
Each chat has its own button. To turn it on for every new chat: Preferences → Arabic.
Emoji
In nearby chat and in every IM, and they show correctly next to Arabic.
Open "Choose Emoji"
Click the smiley button next to the chat box. The small arrow next to it shows your recently used emoji.
Pick an emoji
Choose a category at the top, then click an emoji to add it to what you are typing. Your most used ones come first. Start typing while the window is open to search.
Or type ":" for suggestions
Type : and an English word, like :heart or :moon. A row of suggestions appears: click one, or move with the arrow keys and press Enter. Esc closes it.
Arabic options
Everything about Arabic is in one tab.
Open Preferences → Arabic
Press Ctrl+P, then the Arabic tab. You find:
• Arabic joined, right to left (same as the gold button)
• Paragraphs lined up on the right
• Spell check skips Arabic
• New chats readable on every viewer

Click the theme picture (or See all themes) to open the theme gallery: dark, mid and light.
Or make your own colours
In the same tab: Your own colours. Pick a background colour and an accent colour. Interface size and text size are there too.
Nearby strip
Everyone on the land you are on, nearest first.
Show the strip
The Nearby button on the bottom toolbar, or Preferences → Nearby strip → Show the Nearby strip. It stays on screen until you turn it off.
Same tab: background see-through (names stay solid) and how many lines.
Read the icons
- Coming toward you

The mode stays on after a teleport, and its name shows on the button.
Lag Fix
Find where lag comes from, fix it, and protect yourself from crashers.
Look at the dot
At the top of the Nearby strip.
- Green: all fine
- Yellow: watch out
- Red: heavy lag, click it
Read the report
Summary: is it your PC, your connection, a crowded region, or something that looks like an attack? Suspects: the objects behind it. Fix it: what you can do now. Numbers: the details.
Hide, block or report
In Suspects, pick a line: Show points to it, Hide stops drawing it until you log out (with Undo), Block blocks the owner, Report opens the abuse report with the object filled in.
Auto protection and your Safe spot
In the Mode window: Protect me by itself. In an attack it turns on Shield, then Heavy shield, and puts your own mode back when things calm down.
Save My Safe spot (This place or Home) to allow Escape: if your PC is about to freeze, it moves you there, with a Go back button. After a freeze you can also log in at your Safe spot.
